  1. cardFile++  Version 1.0

  3. This application is a recreation of the built-in Names application which
  4. takes advantage of two types of learning.  It supports only the detailed
  5. "Show All" view.  It is compatible with the built-in Names application.
  6.  
  7. The application was written for research purposes and therefore does not
  8. contain all the features of a full-blown application, such as overviews,
  9. routing, filing, and intelligent assistance.  However, since cardFile++ is
  10. completely compatible with the original Names app, all of these
  11. unimplemented functions can be accomplished through it.
  12.  
  13. The advantage of cardFile++ over the original Names application is in the
  14. entering of the name data.  This process is much more efficient and user
  15. friendly when using basic learning techniques to aid the user as much as
  16. possible.  cardFile++ employs two types: Picker Learning and Filler
  17. Learning.

  19. Picker Learning - adds a few, recently entered values to pickers for many
  20. of the expando lines.  For instance, the "Title" expando doesn't have a
  21. built-in picker, but in cardFile++ it does with up to four titles recently
  22. entered by the user.

  24. Filler Learning - fills in expando lines by looking at previous Names soup
  25. entries.  For instance, when the user enters a "Company", the address,
  26. email suffix, and phone prefix are filled in by looking in the Names soup
  27. for another person from the same company.

  29. These two methods are combined by adding an extra lookup value to the
  30. picker.  For instance, if there are people from the same company but with
  31. different addresses, then one address will be inserted into the "Address"
  32. expando and one will be put into the "Address" picker.

  34. There is a demo in the application to show the user how to get maximum
  35. benefit from cardFile++.
